Gardening
For a number of years, the Trust has had a vigorous Community Gardening Program to enhance the neighborhood through the planting of gardens on public parcels of land. Volunteers continue to design, plant and maintain gardens on median strips, intersection islands, and a number of extended roadside greenways. A drive through the neighborhood will reveal how successful this program has been, and how much these efforts have added to the desirability of living in Mount Washington.
To date, the MWPT has planted and maintained over 40 public gardens in Mount Washington, and it does so with the largest volunteer effort of its kind in the greater Baltimore area. The largest of these gardens, the Mount Washington Arboretum, is open to the public for all to enjoy from sunrise to sunset.
Tax-deductible contributions to the Trust’s Gardening Program, from both neighbors and area foundations, are used to purchase plant material and supplies.
Please contact us to join our gardening email list and hear about our plans. We generally meet on Sundays from 9 am to 11 am. See where we will be this week by checking out our calendar on our Volunteer page.
